As in the below-elbow case, this type of harness improves lifting ability and reduces unit stresses over the shoulder on the amputated side. The elbow-lock control cable is attached to the front of the shoulder saddle, and again a piece of elastic is used as the front suspensor between shoulder saddle and arm socket.
