The above-elbow chest-strap harness using for suspension a leather strap threaded through a D-ring on the lateral wall of the socket and attached to a leather shoulder saddle at two points, The strap for the control cable may be attached either to the shoulder saddle, as shown, or to the chest strap at the midspine position. As in the below-elbow case, this type of harness improves lifting ability and reduces unit stresses over the shoulder on the amputated side. The elbow-lock control cable is attached to the front of the shoulder saddle, and again a piece of elastic is used as the front suspensor between shoulder saddle and arm socket.
